Week 1 | Evolving Into Global Citizens

mostly photos and a few words about what we are doing, seeing, eating, and everything else in between...

Fresh off a redeye into Amsterdam and the first store we stumble into felt aptly specific to us.
Tyler accepting the cup of coffee in the store knowing full well that means he'll end up buying something
Amsterdam quickly became one of our favorite cities. It felt fresh and light and the perfect place to start our adventure.
Our first stay in Amsterdam was a hybrid hotel/hostel that catered to the traveling remote worker. We definitely had a moment of concern when the receptionist commented on the weight and size of our bags, shocked that we needed so much for our anticipated year of travel - yikes!
On to Norway! Those who know Makenna, know that she is not fond of birds and will tell you a traumatizing story of a seagull stealing her churro at SeaWorld as a kid. Well, jokes on her that 'makene' is seagull in Norwegian.
On the ferry to Bodø in our new gear (thanks SAS for losing our bags on day 3 of the trip) but still all smiles!
We went to the same coffee & pastry shop in Lofoten every day. The children's book was correct - we went to the north of Norway and it was amazing
Our first day? night? during the midnight sun @ 12:09 am
Since we weren't sleeping, sugar free apricot Red Bull and a bag full of Swedish candy kept us all smiles and ready for our hikes.
We learned that we really liked the RIB boat excursions, including the heavy duty thermal jumpers and goggles
Whenever there was a break in the clouds, Lofoten shined, and the scattered fishing villages across the island were so picturesque.
The only thing that would have made this view more perfect would have been sighting a pod of Orcas. Unfortunatley we saw none, but Makenna always gave her best whale impression anytime she could.
