Week 4 | Ciao Copenhagen

mostly photos and a few words about what we are doing, seeing, eating, and everything else in between...
7/28/2024 - 8/03/2024

The food in Copenhagen did not disappoint - bread, cheese, butter, cookies - sounds like a dream to Makenna (minus the coffee of course)
We bounced our way through the city
Eating as much as we could, including the best hot dog we will probably every have in our life
We couldn't help but laugh at Tivoli gardens; not featured was Makenna being chased by the free roaming peacocks
Feeling thin after hiking in Norway, we made the intentional decision to eat every pastry in sight
And made it to POPL more than once. Tyler proclaimed it the best burger (...and so did most food bloggers that visit Copenhagen)
While waiting for our bags, Makenna sadly sat on the floor of the Marco Polo Airport proclaiming that she already missed Scandinavia, but nonetheless we were excited about our next stop in the Dolomites!
Walking around Cortina d'Ampezzo our first night, we were shocked to see a dog barking on the roof of a hotel. Naturally, we went in to alert the staff. When the staff walked outside they turned to us and so simply shrugged, "that is the owner's dog; he does this"
The mountains in Cortina were stunning. The razor like ridge lines were genuinely mesmerizing. Fun fact: our guide and ChatGPT taught us these were formed by coral!
Now that we were properly reunited with our bags and hiking again, the GoPro was in full action!
It completely down poured at one point during our hike of Tre Cime which meant it was a perfect time for a snack at a refugio
We had already hiked a full day, but we couldn't miss also seeing Punto Panoramico Cadini di Misurina—and yes we waited about 30 minutes for this photo after a couple fake proposed so they would have it to themselves
The next day was Via Ferrata time and we had perfect weather
We learned how this mountain range was used during WW1 - even exploring some old building, bunkers, and shrapnel. Our guide also casually brought up the dinosaur bones being uncovered at the mountain range across the way
The climb was so fun but what you climb up, you must hike down, and our knees were aching for the next few days
One of Makenna's favorite parts of the Dolomites in the summer was the free range cows and the sound of their bells from miles away
After back-to-back hikes, it was time for a little R&R in Corvara
We had half board for the next 3 days and we were thrilled about our daily breadbasket, fresh pastas, and delicious wine
